The professional staff at DNV has extensive experience in the analysis and selection of materials. Our materials and corrosion specialists include both engineers and Ph.D. scientists with backgrounds in metallurgy, materials science, polymers, corrosion and others. Our diverse staff works together to address a broad range of materials-related problems, including general and localized corrosion, coating degradation, materials compatibility, stress corrosion cracking, corrosion fatigue, thermal fatigue, creep, high temperature corrosion and fracture mechanics. We have a state-of-the-art metallographic facility including cutting, mounting, grinding and polishing equipment. We also provide full-scale materials analysis capabilities utilizing Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) and physical testing (hardness, grain size, optical photography).
