As more and more buried pipelines are having to share rights-of-way with HVAC transmission lines, alternating current (AC) interference issues have become a more common problem. Not only can this be a safety issue for your personnel, but it can also impact the integrity of the pipeline itself.
Phil Nidd has joined DNV Columbus as a principal engineer and senior project manager. Nidd is based out of the Houston office and will be managing large-scale pipeline integrity and litigation projects, as well as working on technical marketing.

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced that its proprietary Eatonite™ Laser Clad coating technology was certified by independent test services company DNV after fulfilling requirements stated in the “Guideline for qualification of wear and corrosion protection surface materials for piston rods” developed as part of a Joint Industry Project (JIP).
In August of 2007, DNV began research on the safe and reliable transportation of fuel grade ethanol (FGE) and ethanol-gasoline blends through existing petroleum pipelines for the Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and the Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI). While research is on going, there have been some significant findings.

DNV Showed its continued support of the National Associaton of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and confirmed its place as a leader in the corrosion industry with an election into a leadership role and as many as 24 technical papers during Corrosion 2009.
DNV intern Juan Nervi received an award for having the best student poster presentation during the Army Corrosion Summit held February 3-5 in Clearwater Beach, Florida.
DNV supported the ASME India Oil & Gas Pipeline Conference by not only sponsoring and exhibiting at the event, but also by giving a presentation and tutorial.
DNV was recently awarded its second patent for a device to prevent galvanic corrosion in shipboard piping systems. DNV’s Galvanic Corrosion Inhibiting Coupling (GCIC) can mitigate galvanic corrosion while avoiding the potentially harmful limitations found with other methods, such as cathodic protection or electrical isolation.
As of January 1, 2009 CC Technologies will be known as DNV. CC Technologies was acquired by DNV in 2005 and after three years of integration, CC Technologies will be changing its name to the parent company
