Columbus, OH USA: Dr. Jose Vera has rejoined DNV Columbus as a senior program manager and senior principal engineer in the Technology Development section of the Materials and Corrosion Technology Center. Jose is based out of the Houston office and brings a strong technical and scientific background, specifically in areas related to corrosion, materials, and electrochemistry.
Dr. Vera holds a PhD in chemistry from Rice University in Texas and a Chemical Engineering degree from University of Zulia in Venezuela, and has over twenty-eight years of experience in engineering, research and project management in the oil industry. He has chaired NACE committees and symposia, and presented keynote lectures in international corrosion conferences, published more than 67 articles in international journals and congress proceedings and 98 internal technical reports.
Dr. Vera has also been granted four patents in USA and Europe and received three innovations awards for inventing and implementing technologies for quality characterization of corrosion inhibitors using cyclic voltametry, assessing Naphthenic Acid Corrosivity of crude oils and products, and measuring hydrogen permeation based on fuel cell principle.
He has been professor of graduate level courses in electrochemical techniques and corrosion, and taught several in-house corrosion courses. Dr. Vera has directed and contributed to numerous research and engineering interdisciplinary projects defined to solve client needs (current or future) in an integral way. He has been actively engaged in developing and implementing integrity programs, methods and procedures for corrosion control in oil and gas production, refinery and petrochemical facilities. In recognition to his contribution to the corrosion industry, Jose Vera received a NACE Fellow award in 2009.
"We are very fortunate to welcome Jose back to our group and are excited about the experience and energy he brings," stated C. Sean Brossia, director of Technology Development, Columbus.
